This chart shows the growth rate of Canada's 33 census metropolitan areas between 1996 and 2001 and between 2001 and 2006. The CMAs are listed in decreasing order of 2001 to 2006 growth rate. For each area, the 1996 to 2001 rate is given first, followed by the 2001 to 2006 rate. The rates are 25.1% and 19.7% for Barrie, Ontario; 15.8% and 13.4% for Calgary, Alberta; 10.2% and 11.6% for Oshawa, Ontario; 8.7% and 10.4% for Edmonton, Alberta; 8.2% and 9.8% for Kelowna, British Columbia; 9.8% and 9.2% for Toronto, Ontario; 8.2% and 8.9% for Kitchener, Ontario; 10.7% and 8.2% for Guelph, Ontario; 8.0% and 7.9% for Abbotsford, British Columbia; 3.7% and 6.5% for Moncton, New Brunswick; 8.5% and 6.5% for Vancouver, British Columbia; 3.1% and 6.3% for Sherbrooke, Quebec; 6.5% and 5.9% for Ottawa - Gatineau, Ontario / Quebec; 2.5% and 5.8% for Victoria, British Columbia; and 3.1% and 5.5% for Brantford, Ontario.
